This is kind of a typical wharf in Newfoundland built for the fishery.  When I was a boy I moved away from the childhood towns of my parents to live in St. John's, Newfoundland, so I didn't live day by day next to something like this, but there were summers I got to visit these places.  I remember watching the activity on the pier.  Fisherman coming and offloading their catch.  I remember seeing a Salmon that was close to 5 feet long and the steaks were 10 inches deep.  This painting is in memory of my mother's village named Main Brook, Newfoundland.
